Jimothy Sightings

Where Ballard’s most photographed resident has turned up, newest first. If you’ve seen him, we’d like to add yours.

Send us one

Email reception@thefamilypet.org with the date, roughly where, and what he was up to. A real person reads it and adds it here.

  • From a window, a porch, or wherever you already were. If you had to move closer, we’d rather not have it.
  • Never food, never bait, not for a photo.
  • Neighborhood only — we won’t publish a street, a block, or an address.
  • Tell us the date and what he was doing. That’s the whole form.
  1. October 2026

Picked his way along the fence between two houses, then settled on a roof and stayed there — the clip that confirmed he was still going strong months after the first one.

  2. Autumn 2026

A front porch, filmed by whoever lives there. He does not appear to have been invited.

  3. Through 2026

Repeatedly: across back decks, up neighborhood trees, and drinking out of somebody’s dog’s water bowl. Residents have reported all three more than once.

  4. July 2026

The original. A phone video of a very round raccoon going about his evening, posted, shared, and around the world inside a week. Everything on this page follows from it.

Not a Sighting, but Worth It

On 18 July 2026, somebody in a raccoon costume ran the Mariners’ seventh-inning Salmon Run as Jimothy. Jimothy won. The Mariners came back to win 4–3 the same evening. This was, to be clear, a person — but it is the high-water mark of the whole business and it would be wrong to leave it out.

Why the Entries Are Vague About Where

On purpose. Wildlife officials following all this have said what worries them is not the attention but fans deciding to catch him and take him somewhere better. A precise map of a wild animal’s territory is how that starts, so this log stops at “Ballard” and we won’t publish more than that however nicely you ask.

More on what he is, whether he’s all right, and why the food you’d leave out rebounds on him, on the main Jimothy page. If you’ve found a raccoon that is actually injured or sick, that’s PAWS in Snohomish on 425-412-4040 — not us. We treat dogs and cats.
